Body Mass Index Calculator

Calculate your BMI using both International and East Asian standards

About BMI Calculator

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a simple measurement using your height and weight to work out if your weight is healthy. This calculator provides BMI results based on both WHO international standards and Asian-specific criteria, helping you better understand your body composition.

BMI Standards

WHO International Standard

The World Health Organization's BMI classification is the most widely used standard globally:

  • Underweight: BMI < 18.5
  • Normal weight: BMI 18.5-24.9
  • Overweight: BMI 25-29.9
  • Obese: BMI ≥ 30

Asian Standard

For Asian populations, different BMI cutoff points are recommended:

  • Underweight: BMI < 18.5
  • Normal weight: BMI 18.5-22.9
  • Overweight: BMI 23-24.9
  • Obese: BMI ≥ 25

Important Notes

  • BMI is a general indicator and may not be accurate for all body types
  • Athletes and muscular individuals may get misleading results due to higher muscle mass
  • BMI calculations for children and teens should use age-specific charts
  • Consult healthcare professionals for comprehensive health assessments
  • Use BMI as one of several health indicators, not as the sole measure of health
